I was already pretty fit when I started training with Sean.... at least that's what I thought!! I was a size 12, had completed a couple of sprint triathlons and had dragged myself round my first 10k race. Like many people I felt like I was doing ok for health and fitness but despite training a couple of times per week I didn’t really feel I was progressing. This is what prompted me to hunt out someone to help.

When I first met Sean he immediately told me that he couldn’t just wave a magic wand and transform me into an athlete! He explained that to be successful I would have to put in the hard graft myself to get the results. What he did do immediately and continues to do, was identify the areas that need work and set about getting me on the right path and plan to help me reach the ever increasing goals we keep setting.

I'd always found running a struggle and felt like I wasn't built to do it. This was probably not helped by recurring back pain and various niggling injuries, which popped up at random intervals. One of the things that set Sean apart is his skill at sorting out and then preventing recurrence of injuries! This has been brilliant for me. I never thought I'd be rid of the back ache, let alone be able to run long distances and train at high intensity without bits of my body breaking. This has also proved be the one of the key factors in transforming my physique too!!

Initially the focus was centered on developing my core strength and improving flexibility in order to get me, and keep me, injury free. We worked on running technique, stamina and speed work to get me a bit less horrified every time I went for a run. Since then we've pushed on to ever more ridiculous levels and achieved way more than I could've predicted. Sean isalways flexing and tweaking my programmeso I don't get a chance to get bored, so I’m always kept on my toes and constantly challenged!! He has made sure that I keep getting stronger, faster and more athletic.

Sean always emphases the importance of correct nutrition and often states how it is even more important than exercise when it comes to achieving a lean, strong and healthy physique. I have been reluctant at times but am now seeing the benefits of his wisdom in this area of health and fitness as am feeling better on the inside and looking better on the outside!!

Last year I got a place in the London marathon, stayed absolutely injury free through the entire training program and finished the marathon in 4hrs 9mins!! I'm not sure which one of us was the more chuffed about that and it's actually pretty cool having a trainer who also gets stupidly excited by my achievements!!

So I started out as an active, normal person who could run 5k reasonably 'happily' but didn't think I could run much more, Was reasonably happy with my body but never realized just how my physique could be transformed! Today my body is a totally different shape and at 38 years old I'm by far the fittest and healthiest I've ever been. Sean and I are already onto the next goal. I'm running the marathon again this year and I want to go faster!!
